Base para armario estilo Krenov
I made this small shrine a couple of years ago. It has taken a beautiful patina by now. I wanted it to be at an easy height to reach. Krenov shows the way ! I recently brought in some fresh walnut. The entire tree cut into longer pieces and split into quarters is now being processed and turned into bowls and all kind of furniture. A couple of days ago I started making this nice little base. The four legs are split from one piece of the trunc. They pretty much kept their inicial curve. I love to work this way. Right angles? Never found any in the woods. Just see these forms unfold. They are beautiful just as they are. A very pleasing and humble way to receive natures treasures.
Hice este pequeño mueble unos años atrás. Ya tiene una pátina muy bella. Quería tenerlo a una altura más facil de acceso. Krenov sabe cómo. Hace poco llegó un nogal fresco. Lo corté en trozos largos y lo abrí en cuartos. Ya estoy procesando el máximo posible de esta bella madera en cuencos , fuentes y toda suerte de mobilario. Hace unos días empecé a fabricar esta mesita sirviendo de base al mueble. Las cuatro patas salen del mismo tronco. Las he dejado mucha de su forma natural. Por lo cual, provienen de la misma pieza y a la vez son muy distintas. Me encanta trabajar de este modo. ¿Ángulos rectos? Nunca he encontrado ninguno en el bosque. Tal como salen son bellos. Qué modo mas agradable de recibir estos tesoros de la naturaleza.
Goats are wonderful people. I lived among them for quite a while. Legs always remind me to their crazyness.
It’s easy enough to make the frame. The cuarters will warp a little but they’ll dry nicely without splitting. The tenoned pieces will be enclosed firmly by the vertical ones. The shrinking process makes very strong and tight joints. Meanwhile they are securely held in place by small bamboo pegs.
Now those legs are still very wet. The surfaces are in some spots quite “hairy” and rough. Better wait some time to finish the sufaces. The same goes for the table top. I’ll join the roughed out quarters once they’re dry. They shrink much more in radius than they do lengthwise. Just wait! This tree took 25 years to grow. Be patient, Time does magic ! Las cabras son buena gente. He vivido con ellas muchos años. Cuando veo patas siempre me acuerdo de su locura. No es díficil hacer el marco o la base del mueble. Los cuartos van a deformarse un poco al secar. Pero no habra fisuras. Al secar las cajas irán sujetando firmamente a las espigas. ¡No hay ensamble más fuerte que aprovechando la retracción del secado! También atravieso cada espiga con un clavo fino de bambú. Vamos, estas patas están muy húmedas. Las superfies quedan todavía bastante gruesas y “peludas” Es mejor esperar para los acabados. Lo mismo pasa con la tabla de encima. Haré las uniónes de las tablas desbastadas una vez secas. Se deforman mucho más en lo hancho que en su largura. ¡Paciencia! Este árbol tardó 25 años en crecer. Toca esperar un poco más. El tiempo tiene su magia. Acabaré cuando me lo diga la madera …
