Here you’ll find some of my products. If an item is sold out you can ask for a similar one. In a couple of days It will be ready.

These  are quarter riven walnut bowls from different logs. Once they’re roughed out , they keep on sitting on the bench, waiting for finish. It’s very nice to have them around and take the time and good care of them.

All these bowls can be used for food. Purely handmade with axe, adze, spoke shaves, gouges, scorps and scrapers. No artificial abrasives have been used nor any chemicals at all. For a light sanding I use Horsetail, Equisetum fluviatile. The straw of this medicinal plant, containing silicon, bring’s the surface to a beautiful polish. They use a similar plant in Japan, where it’s called Tokusa. As a last treatment before oiling I compress the surface, polishing with a bottleneck. The bowls are protected with food grade lin seed oil. In order to enhance the patina, as years go by you can repeat this ever once in a while at home . The hole process from cleaving to finish takes 3 to 4 days.

Aquí encontrarás algúnos de mis productos. Si encuentras uno que te gusta ya vendido, te puedo hacer uno parecido. En unos días estará listo. Estos son cuencos de diferentes árboles hendidos en cuartos.

Una vez desbastados, se quedan en el banco esperando el acabado. Es preciso tomarse el tiempo de cuidarlos bien, y es una gozada tenerlos cerquita.

Todos estos cuencos sirven para comer. Enteramente hechos a mano, usando hachas, azuela, bastrén, gubias, vaciadores scorp y rasgadoras. No empleo abrasivos artificiales, ni ningún químico. Para lijar uso los tallos de cola de caballo (Equisetum fluviatile). La paja de esta planta medicinal contiene silicio, lo que deja una superficie pulida particuliarmente bella. En Japón usan una planta similar que llaman Tokusa.

Por último, se aplica un tratamiento; antes de poner aceite de lino o de oliva comestible , sello la superficie comprimiéndola con un cuello de botella. De vez en cuando podrás nutrir la madera tu mismo. Un poco de aceite protege bien y da una bella pátina. El proceso completo de fabricación de un cuenco se hace en unos 4 días.

The log splitted with this slope on one side. Only two quarters came out of the same log with this shape. Usually I avoid ornaments on foodgrade bowls. Just easier to clean them. That’s what I think I thought. Then, of course, I love to be carried away, that’s what I’m sure I felt like …

El tronco se abrió con un lado más fuerte que el otro. Solo dos de los cuatro cuencos salieron con esta forma. No suelo poner mucha talla en los cuencos para comer. Más fácil para limpiar. Eso pienso. Pero, en sério, quién soy yo para tomarme en sério y creerme todo lo que pienso.

The underside of this bowl got a special ebonizing. It happens when you apply a mixture of iron and vinegar. Every wood reacts in a special way and coulour and brings out the annual rings in a very ineresting manner.

La cara exterior de este cuenco de nogal ha sido ebonizado. Este tratamiento especial y muy antiguo consiste en mezclar vinagre con hierro. Los dos ingredientes oxidan y aplicado con un pinzel en la madera se obtiene esta reacción muy interesante.

There was a big knot hidden under the surface. That’s how it came to the cut out. It nicely nice caresses the hand as it wraps around the thumb.

Shrink pots are made of green branches. They are hollowed out. A dry piece of oak, in this case, is then inserted into a groove on the inner bottom side of the cylinder. The branch is walnut and the top of cherry gives a nice contrast. The drying process firmly incloses the dry bottom. No glue is needed !

‘Shrink pots’ son recipientes hechos de madera verde. Los fondos se fabrican de piezas de madera seca, aquí de roble, y con un cuchillo especial, se colocan en una ranura hecha en el intério. El cilindro (nogal) de madera verde se retracta al secar y fija así el fondo. No hace falta ninguna cola para este ensamble extremadamente sólido. La tapa está hecha de cerezo.
